SNCF RELIEF MEASURES IN CHENNAI

The recent rain lash in Chennai and adjoining areas has left lakhs of people homeless and suffering. Hundreds of victims have lost their lives. Government and non-government organizations are busy providing rescue and relief measures.
As in the case of any natural calamity in the country in the past, the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) also plunged into action in Chennai with hundreds of members of the Sant Nirankari Sewadal, volunteers of the Foundation and devotees of the Sant Nirankari Mission trying to reach out the sufferers. Unfortunately, the Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan in Chennai was cut off from the major flood-hit areas making it difficult to reach out food, clothing and medicines to the needy even while they were ready with the same.
In the meantime, the Foundation has set up a relief camp at the Satsang Bhawan, Chennai. The volunteers of the Foundation working under the guidance of Shri Shyam Sunder Ji, Zonal Incharge Chennai and Shri Manohar Shah, Kshetriya Sanchalak Bangalore, Chennai and Kerala started to provide relief measures. They served food to about 1000 people on December 3, more than 1500 on December 4 and about 2000 on December 5. And this help is being continued. Food packets were distributed to many people trapped in flood in their own houses. About 400 packets were provided to a local school where affected people have been given shelter.
The food is served in ready to eat packs containing biscuits, noodles and bread with butter and jam. Milk powder is also distributed for children. In addition, the Foundation has also distributed blankets, bed sheets and garments. The Sant Nirankari Charitable Hospital in Chennai is also working in full swing to provide medical relief to the needy.
Several items of relief, including medicines, clothes and eatables are awaiting dispatch at Bangalore for want of means to reach out the sufferers in the cut off areas. While Shri Sunil Ratra, Zonal Incharge is co-ordinating the measures at Bangalore, Shri C.L. Gulati Secretary SNCF is guiding the operations from Headquarters in Delhi.
