The international Literacy Day falls on 8th of September every year. SNCF organized various activities in adopted villages in Haryana and Maharashtra. In Haryana, SNCF has adopted three villages and the program in the school of Panchhi Gujraan, went well as scheduled with a rally by 55 students of 3rd, 4th and 5th class along with the teachers.
Another program in continuation was organized in Bhodwal Majri where the message of literacy was given through a rally by 100 school students of 6th, 7th, 8th & 9th accompanied by their teachers. The villagers from all walks of the society like Men-Women, Sr. Citizens and Children participated in this literacy Walk started from Sachiwalya to the Village School.
The literacy walk was well appreciated by the villagers stating it a unique way by SNCF for spreading message of literacy in the grass root level social set up of India. There was word of thanks after round of short speeches and poems by villagers.
In Maharashtra, on the same occasion books, copies and stationary items were distributed to the school children of village Girhe Pada, District Palghar. Scholarship was also given to the meritorious students and the efforts were highly appreciated by the local villagers and the panchyat.
