SNCF is observing a “TREE PLANTATION AND TREE SAVING CAMPAIGN”, Pan India from first week of July, which is observed as “Van Mahotsav” week from 1st of July to 7th of July, in which emphasis will be on planting trees and saving the existing trees at various locations, Pan India and will be ending on 28th July, 2020 which is observed as “World Nature Conservation Day” by United Nations. This year, in the whole month of July, SNCF will be conducting tree plantation and tree saving drive, with the participation of SNCF volunteers, local people and local government agencies.
During “Van Mahotsav” week from 1st of July to 7th of July, in which emphasis was on planting trees at various locations in Delhi NCR. With the participation of SNCF volunteers and local people different type of trees including fruit trees were planted during this drive. Volunteers of SNCF, emphasized not only on planting trees but also on taking various initiative to protect those trees which were planted earlier.
On 4th July, 2020, Saturday, the drive was initiated by protecting the existing trees by cleaning of weeds, protecting the trees with tree gaurds wherever necessary in North Delhi. SNCF in association with Times of India Group will be planting various species of plantation in Gurugram on 5th July, 2020 with the support of local residents and creating awareness among them on planting and protecting the existing trees. On 6th July, 2020, the fruit plants were planted in the government and private schools in the adopted villages in Haryana i.e. Panchi Gujran, Bodhwal Majri and Patti Kalyana. The staff, village sarpanch and guests were present during the event. The maintenance drive for the thousands of grown up plants/trees was also initiated, those were planted during frequent plantation drives by SNCF.
Due to pandemic of Covid-19, in the whole event, various precautions were taken and only the limited number of volunteers were called and keeping the social distancing on priority.
