Delhi, June 21, 2019: Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘yoga’ derived from Sanskrit, means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. Today it is practiced in various forms around the world and continues to grow in popularity.
Recognizing its universal appeal, on 11 December 2014, the United Nations proclaimed 21st June as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.
The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga
To mark the participation on this day, the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) organized a wide spread Yoga Camps at more than 427 Locations covering 23 States of the country on this fifth International Day of Yoga.
The mega camps were organized by SNCF at Delhi, Jammu, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Jabalpur, Ranchi, Raipur, Gangtok, Varanasi, Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Barreilly, Shahjahanpur, Patna, Bhopal, Ahemedabad, Rajkot, Godhra, Gandhidham, Goa, Cuttack, Dehradun, Haridwar, Moradabad and many more .
This year around 60,000 of the SNCF volunteers in their blue T-shirts and Caps and Sant Nirankari Sewadal men in Khaki and women in the blue and white uniform, along with other devotees and residents of respective cities had participated in Yoga Camps.
In Delhi, under the aegis of Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation a mega camp of yoga was organized in the sprawling ground of Nirankari Sarovar, Burari Road, Delhi in which 1500 persons from different walks of life participated in the camp. 300 volunteers of the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation (SNCF) in their blue dress were helpful in orderly management of the event. Volunteers of SNCF assembled at 5.30 a.m. The event began with a pledge “I PLEDGE to make Yoga an integral part of my daily life and contribute towards building a HEALTHY NATION.”
Sister Bindiya Chhabra Ji, Executive President SNCF, and many other dignitaries marked their presence at the time of inauguration of the camp.
The Chief Yoga Instructor kept the participants busy in an hour long multiple yogic exercises and also explained benefits of each exercise. In the end, participants were thanked and the role of SNCF volunteers was appreciated.
Many similar yogic camps were held in India in which thousands of SNCF Volunteers helped the District Administration in arrangements.
